Spring Summer 1995 Jean Paul Gaultier ‘Comic Strip’ Rugby Polo
(FOR SALE) A Spring Summer 1995 Jean Paul Gaultier ‘Comic Strip’ Rugby Shirt and Belt
Jean Paul Gaultier is a French designer who has rewrote the industry rules since inception in 1976. Founding his menswear label years later in 1984, the artisan was instantly plagued as “l’enfant terrible” for his outlandish, inexcusable designs. Consciously reconstructing our vision of beauty, he experimented without remorse, pulling from the likes of taboo niches. Utilizing rebellious textiles, Gaultier conveyed his message through inventive mediums, popularizing the mesh full print silhouette. He stomped on guidelines in pursuit of creative expression and was successful in doing so, hailed as a fashion forefather and true Magnus opus in his field.
I’m extremely proud to have both the shirt and belt in at the same time, it’s not often you’re able to have pieces from the same collection in matching colorways and presenting the pairing is something that always brings me joy. The comic strip graphic features subtle JPG branding throughout, with an action packed storyboard of a Gaultier superhero fighting an evil giant. Coming in a size medium, this collection is nearing 30 years old and both pieces are still in great shape with minimal wear. Here is the opportunity to purchase a truly iconic Jean Paul Gaultier piece from his Spring Summer 1995 collection.
