In 2009, under the creative direction of Olivier Rousteing—who succeeded Christophe Decarnin—Balmain embraced a bold, modern aesthetic with rock-inspired, sharply tailored pieces. Decarnin’s tenure (2006–2010) was pivotal in revitalizing the brand, introducing edgy, distressed styles that fused Balmain’s classic heritage with a rebellious, contemporary spirit.
