founded in 1990 by Takao Yamashita, is an underground Japanese label built on ethereal fairy tales and dreamlike fantasy. Yamashita presented his first collection in Osaka, Japan 1991, focusing on tropes of religion, inner conflict and radical expression. Rebelling against his father’s wishes, he continued to pursue a career in fashion for years to come, exploring other storytelling mediums like manga to convey his visions. The designer used unconventional themes like a reoccurring protagonist known as the “Dark Knight'', and his guide, “Think”, to illustrate a progressional universe under one label.
