(FOR SALE) A Spring Summer 2005 Comme Des Garcons Homme Hand Painted ‘Flower’ Inside-Out Jacket.

Founded in 1969, Comme des Garçons is renowned for its avant-garde designs and experimentation with unconventional fabrics, shapes, and textures. Often challenging traditional ideas of gender and incorporating elements of art and architecture, Kawakubo’s thought provoking, all encompassing label continues to thrive as one of her primary muses for self expression. Expanding in years following to create an umbrella of sub-designer labels, managed by the CDG Maison, Rei Kawakubo has been steadily maintaining her position as one of the greatest currently active designers.

From Keiichi Tanaka's final collection as the head of Comme Des Garcons Homme, the hand painted acrylic flower on the interior of this jacket is symbolic of Tanaka’s blossoming career under the CDG label, taking over HP in 1990 and replaced by Watanabe in 2003. Hiding this beautiful motif on the interior of the jacket may also be representative in itself, as Tanaka retires, allowing Watanabe’s new flowers to grow atop his already flourishing garden. As many other collectors have done, I’ve chosen to showcase the jacket inside out, which many also choose to wear the garment as such. In pristine overall condition, this jacket fits a true to size large. Here is the opportunity to purchase a true Comme Des Garcons Homme grail produced over 20 years ago.
