SS2001 Junya Watanabe Tye Dye Psychedelic Flared Denim
(FOR SALE) A pair of Spring Summer 2001 Junya Watanabe Tye Dye Flared Denim
Junya Watanabe’s perennial career under the Comme Des Garcons overarching label has been nothing short of exceptional, spanning over three decades. Beginning as a pattern cutter for the Tricots Comme Des Garcons knitwear line, Kawakubo saw promise in Watanabe’s capabilities, where his creations flourished on the runway. Over the next few seasons, Junya Watanabe would continue to hone his abilities and by 1992 was heading his own womenswear namesake label. Junya Watanabe’s menswear line would go on to debut in the Spring of 2002, bringing forth the iconic “Poem” pieces. Cementing himself as a permanent, leading figure under the Comme Des Garcons umbrella, Watanabe continues to design to this day, pushing boundaries in both his mens and womenswear collections.
This incredible pair of jeans from Watanabe’s final year before expanding into menswear is a testament to how ever-changing Watanabe’s personal interest in design would become. Seeing grunge collections following only five years later in 2006 is such a polarizing opposite from the 70s hipster/psychedelic nature that these jeans radiate. Coming in a 30 inch waist, these jeans are in amazing overall condition with no flaws. Here is the opportunity to purchase a truly unique pair of denim from Junya Watanabe’s Spring Summer 2001 collection.
