(FOR SALE) A pair of 2004 Maison Margiela x H&M Painted Fade Red Denim.

Martin Margiela remains a fashion forefather, avant-garde pioneer and symbol of the anti-fashion circuit. Swimming against the current of haute couture in the late 1980’s, Margiela reworked the seams of the fashion industry in spite of previously retained social norms. The creative worked in conjunction with his team to deconstruct each and every preconceived notion of wearable art, crafting pieces far ahead of their time. Margiela built a new understanding of clothing behind a wall of intense anonymity, letting each piece speak for both itself and the Maison. Martin Margiela questioned the industry and in turn the audience, making for enthralling collections over many decades.

Margiela’s collaborative work with H&M for their 2004 collection had a heavy focus on homage to many of Martin Margiela’s earliest artisanal work. Inspired by his works from the 90s in which he’d paint over pieces and allow them to fade into their true color, this was a common design ethos for Martin Margiela. These jeans are painted over red with a blue layer of denim beneath them. Coming in a size 30 waist; these jeans have much of the original paint remaining and are in great overall condition.
